The following obituary notice sent from Wilmot, S.D., will be of interest to the many friends of the late Emory Hart, who died Oct. 13th, in Dakota, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Ayers:

Emory Hart, who came to this city about six weeks ago to visit at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. C. Ayers died on Saturday, Oct. 13th, following an illness of about three weeks. Deceased was born in Morgan county, Ohio, July 17, 1850, and was at the time of his death past 73 years of age. He was the youngest of ten children, all whom have preceded him in death. He came from sturdy stock and his mother lived to the ripe age of 98 years. At an early age and before the days of the railroad, he emigrated with his parents to Wisconsin, traveling by boat down the Ohio river to Cairo and then up the Mississippi to LaCrosse. There the family settled and cleared up a farm in the wilderness when bear and other wild life was plentiful to be troublesome.

At the age of seventeen his father having died, he and his mother moved to Cedar county, Iowa, where he lived (with the exception of five years in North Dakota) until six weeks ago when he came to Wilmot.

Deceased was married on June 21, 1876 to Miss Margaret Carney. Three children were born to them, Pearl, known here as Mrs. J. T. Eastman, who died several years ago, Selah of Jamestown, N.D., and Mrs. S. C. Ayers of this city.

Deceased was of a friendly, kindly disposition and had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in Cedar county, Iowa, where he lived so long and worked at the carpenter trade for forty-seven years. He was industrious and strictly conscientous in his work and dealings with his fellowmen and had no enemies.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the home, Rev. Heghin of Veblen, formerly pastor of the local Presbyterian church, conducting the services, and the remains were laid to rest beside those of his deceased daughter, Pearl, in the Wilmot cemetery, many friends of the family being in attendance.
