John C. Forsythe was born in the town of Collierstown, Rockbridge Co., Virginia, on the 17th day of January in the year 1854, and departed this life at his home in Waukomis, Oklahoma, on January 10th, 1914, at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 23 days.

He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in his home town and passed on into the future life in full assurance of the Christian faith and hope.

He leaves a wife and five children to mourn the loss of a loving devoted husband and father.

He is also survived by four sisters and two brothers, as follows: Mrs. E. T. McCaleb of Downey, Ia.; Mrs. G. G. Tribbet of Colliers, Va.; Mrs. John Jacks of Lisbon, Ia.; Mrs. O. C. Pennock of West Branch, Ia.; Mr. J. H. Forsythe of Pikeville, Ky.; Mr. W. E. Forsythe of West Branch, Ia.

The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the O. C. Pennock residence in West Branch, Rev. F. L. Ryon of the Friends church officiating. The interment was in the West Branch cemetery.
