11 October 1923 - West Branch Times

Margaret Emma Brown was born at Glade Mill, Penn., August 5, 1856, and passed away October 3, 1923.

She came to Cedar county, Iowa, with her parents when seven years old, and has spent all the remainder of her life in the vicinity of West Branch.

She united with the Presbyterian church in her young girlhood and remained true to her church all her days.

She was married to Clarence Lodge, February 19, 1891, and shared a happy home with him for thirty-three years.

To this union was born three sons, Robert of Orchard, Iowa, Max at home and E. B. of McCausland, Iowa, and one grandson, Chester Lodge. Four sisters and one brother also remain to mourn her loss.

She was a devoted wife and mother. Her family and home always came first. With unusual intelligence she kept up her interest in the current events of the day.

She will long be missed by the Sunshine club, whose members did so much to relieve the weary hours of her long illness by their constant kindess and loving attention.

She was deeply interested in the Service Star Legion and kept up her attendance at the meetings until her failing health forbade.

Funeral services were held at the family home south of West Branch, Friday afternoon. Rev. G. H. Furniss, of Davenport, a former Presbyterian minister here, had charge of the services. Burial was made in the West Branch cemetery.
