25 May 1922 - West Branch Times

After an illness which became critical only a few days before the end, W. B. Ellyson died early Monday morning at his home on Calhoun street. The funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. The address was by Rev. Lloyd Tennant of the Methodist church. Music was furnished by a male quartet. Interment was made at Oakridge cemetery.

William B. Ellyson, son of Benjamin and Abby Ellyson, was born Twelfth month, nineteenth, 1852, at Damascus, Ohio, and passed to the Great Beyond Fifth month, fifteenth, 1922, at West Liberty, aged 69 years, 4 months and 26 days. He was the fourth child of a family of ten, seven of whom survive him.

In 1854 he came with his parents to Iowa and settled on a farm in Cedar county, where he grew to manhood. On Second month, sixteenth, 1881, he was united in marriage with Esther Negus. They established their home on a farm near Springdale, Iowa, where they lived until 1912, when they moved to West Liberty, where they have since resided.

To this union were born three children, one of whom, Pearl, died in infancy, leaving to mourn his seemingly untimely death, the loving companion and two sons, Chester and Oakley, both of St. Paul, Minn.

He was a man of industry and integrity, unassuming and plain in his habits, thoughtful of his family and his home. -- West Liberty Index
