5 May 1892 - West Branch Times

Charles A. Heppenstall died in Hubbell, Neb., on Wednesday April 20, 1892, of la grippe. Oldest son of George and Lydia Heppenstall.

Charles A. Heppenstall was born in Springdale, Iowa, on November 14, 1865. He graduated from the Springdale High School with the class of 1887, and then attended the Business College at Burlington, Iowa. After a year's work upon the home farm he removed to Hubbell, Neb., where he engaged in the mercantile business, making his home with Dr. Mingus, formerly of this place.

About a month before his death he was taken with la grippe. Though all that skill and friendship could do was done, he rapidly grew worse and on Wednesday April 20, passed away. His father reached his bedside two hours before his death--but too late to be recognized. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church at Springdale, Iowa, on Friday April 22, 1892, conducted by Rev. W. S. Craft. The deceased was formerly captain of the Sons of Veterans' camp at this place. The funeral was largely attended.
