About 1:30 Sunday morning Paul Paulsen was discovered lying dead across his bed at the home of his son, Dennis, a few miles northeast of the city.

Mr. Paulsen had been under medical care for some time, though up and about as usual, and when the family, upon hearing a slight noise in his room, rushed at once to his bed they were not greatly surprised to find the Silent Messenger had come before them.

Heart trouble is attributed, and his death was sudden, occurring on his 65th birthday.

Mr. Paulsen was a native of Denmark. His wife being dead, he had recently made his home with his children.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon.

Paul Jens Sigred LaCour Paulsen was born Sept. 19, 1857, in the hamlet of Gjodvad, Jutland, Denmark. Baptized July 23, 1858, in the Lutheran church in Gjodvad.

He was married to Miss Caroline K. Jensen Feb. 12, 1886, and this union was blessed with ten children of whom two died and were buried in Denmark. Four sons and four daughters mourn the loss of a loving father. One daughter, Ella, lives in Denmark, while Christ, Dennis, Niels and Paul Paulsen, Mrs. Mary Jensen, Mrs. Oda Olsen and Miss Carrie Paulsen all live in the neighborhood of West Branch. Paulsen emigrated to America in August, 1911, and came to this place.

On account of the death of his wife he went back to Denmark in 1913 and returned to West Branch again the same year.

In the home of his son, Dennis, northeast of West Branch, Paulsen passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 17th last at 1:30 a.m. Attained the age of 65 years less two days and was laid to rest on his birthday, Sept. 19, 1922, in the West Branch cemetery.

Services were held in the Lutheran church conducted by Rev. H. P. Jensen.
