Mrs. E. J. Ross, nee Miss Martha Michener, died at the hospital at Iowa City Thursday evening, August 13, at 6:30 o'clock, after a lingering illness of several months, and two operations, aged 40 years. The funeral took place from the family home in Iowa City, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Ellis of the M.E. church officiating. The interment was in the Oakdale cemetery. The deceased was born at West Branch and spent much of her life here. She leaves a husband, four sons, Lester, Clifford, Vernon, and Orville, and two daughters, Irene and Norma, and many brothers and sisters. Her brothers of this place, Wm. and Charles Michener, and their families and her sisters, Mrs. Elma Hemmingway and family, of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Edward Meadows and family of Estherville, Ia., attended the funeral.
