DIED At Muscatine, Ia., of typhoid-pneumonia, on Feb. 13, 1879, SILAS F. JEPSON, in his 55th year.

He was born in the State of Maine, and moved to this State in 1863, locating at West Branch, Cedar county, where he engaged in mercantile pursuits, and remaining there until about four years ago, when he removed to Muscatine, Muscatine county, where he has since resided. That he was an upright man and a sincere Christian, any one who knew him well can testify. Those who knew him best and loved him most know how sure his hope of Heaven is to be realized; and while it seems as though we could not let him go we realize that
"God's ways are always right,
And love is o'er them all, though far above our sight."
