Horace Robertson, son of John and Sally Robertson was born near Buffalo, N.Y., May 1st, 1837.

He came to Iowa with his parents when a boy. On Sept. 7, 1861, he enlisted for service in the Civil War, and served three years and twenty-one days. He was slightly wounded May 16, 1863. He was honorably discharged Sept. 28th, 1864.

He was married Thanksgiving Day, 1864, to Mary Jemina Allin Robertson. To them were born seven children, three preceding their parents in death. The wife passed away Aug. 16th, 1908. Those surviving are Ida Rose, Henry D. Robertson, Elizabeth Westcott and Julia Chamberlain of North Dakota.

Mr. Robertson spent the greater part of his life on a farm. For the last fifteen years he has lived in West Branch, where he died April 7th, 1923, being nearly 86 years of age.

Mr. Robertson was a quiet, unassuming man, devoted to the interest of his home and community, respected by all who knew him.

The funeral was held in Brick Chapel Monday afternoon at half past two o'clock. Rev. W. G. Rowley of the West Branch Methodist church officiated. Interment was in the cemetery near the church.
