7 March 1912 - West Branch Times

Ruth Waite Moore, daughter of Rev. William and Victoria Moore, was born at Markham, Canada, August 4, 1830. She was married to Robert Rogers in 1853. During the same year she came with her husband to Cedar county, Ia., where they lived for 30 years when Mr. Rogers died. After the death of Mr. Rogers, Mrs. Rogers moved to West Branch where she resided until 1897, when with her nephew, Dr. F. O. Richards, she moved to Iowa city where the family remained for four years. In 1901 she moved to Winterset with Dr. Richards where she resided until her death Feb. 10, 1912.

Mrs. Rogers had been an invalid for a number of years and in her suffering displayed great patience and strong faith in her Saviour. She was brought up in the Friends church and said that she never remembered the time when she was not a member of the church. She could thus present, at the gate of heaven, a whole life of devotion and service for the Master. Being brought up in a ministers family she would early be taught the principles of the Christian religion and she never departed from her father's religion. She loved her church as well as her God and was always present in the house of prayer when able to be there, and she always brought her offering. When she moved to Winterset she united with the United Presbyterian church and remained a faithful and consistent member of that church until her death. To know her was to respect and love her because of her beautiful Christian character. She possessed many virtues worthy of our emulation.

The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, T. V. Dugan, assisted by Rev. A. A. Walburn, at the home of Dr. Richards, Feb. 11, 1912.
