Charles Douglas Christy was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, August 16, 1876, and died near West Liberty, March 15, 1912, being in his thirty-sixth year. He spent most of his adult life in the vicinity of West Branch, where he was best known.

On June 26, 1907, he was married to Rose Hunter of West Branch, the ceremony taking place in Iowa City. To this union was born one son, Robert George, now just past three years of age.

Besides the wife and little son he leaves two brothers, Robert of Missoula, Montana, and John of Forsythe, Illinois. Father, mother, two sisters and two brothers preceded him to the great beyond.

The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. Montgomery. Many beautiful floral offerings were sent by relatives and friends. The Masonic lodge, of which Mr. Christy was a member, attended in a body and held short ritual services at the grave.
