After an illness of seven months, Caroline W. Bonsall died at her home between What Cheer and Thornburg, Saturday, December 1st 1894, at 11:04 a.m., aged 74 years, 1 month and 15 days. The funeral took place from the family home Dec 3rd, at 1 o'clock, conducted according to the custom of the society of Friends of which she was a life-long member.

Caroline W. Satterthwait was born in Philadelphia, Oct 16th, 1820, when 7 years of age moved with her parents to Salem, Ohio. In 1858 was married to Evan Bonsall. They moved to Iowa in 1857, where they have lived since with the exception of 8 years at Salem, Ohio, and 8 years at West Branch, Iowa, three months of last winter being pleasantly spent in the state of Washington.

Caroline W. Bonsall was a very conscientious woman and her life was such that she felt enmity toward no one. Always kind and loving and could not bear to hear anyone spoken ill of, always finding an excuse for others mistakes, making warm friends wherever she dwelt. Being naturally disposed to follow the Golden Rule. Her life while in health was very exemplary. Cheerful through her long illness and when the last suffering days came, had the well grounded patience, fully trusting she would find a happy Home beyond, where there is no more pain.

Her children were all at home during her sickness while she was able to enjoy their company, never having had the misfortune to loose a child. She leaves a husband, three sons and one daughter, together with three daughter-in-laws and four grand children and numerous relatives and friends to mourn her loss. She has crossed the river, she is with her God.
