Ada Thompson Baker, wife of Jacob Baker, was born in Warren county, Ohio, near South Lebanon, April 3, 1852. She was one of a family of three sisters and two brothers. She grew to womanhood and was united in marriage Jan. 23, 1873, to Jacob Baker of Lexington, Ind. Soon after their marriage they came to Lincoln, Ill., where Mr. Baker had been farming for a couple of years. In 1876, they came on to Iowa and settled near Downey on a farm. They came to West Liberty in 1902 and secured a home on Park street. She united with the Baptist church in Downey and remained a member of that church all her life.

One of her brothers died during the Civil War days, the younger sister about six years ago and the elder sister about one year ago and one sister lives in Creston, Iowa, Mrs. Martha Baker; one brother, M. Thompson lives in Valley Falls, Kans. these with the husband are left to mourn her taking.

Funeral services were held in the Snider Funeral parlors Saturday at 3:00 p.m., Rev. Lloyd Tennant minister with a select Duo consisting of Mrs. Hoog and Mrs. Myers, singing two special selections made by the family. Interment was had in Golden Rod cemetery.
