The death of Mrs. Attie Kinkead of Whittier occurred Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, after a lingering illness. The body was brought to the home of her sister, Mrs. Clara Crew, but funeral arrangements are incomplete, awaiting word from her son Clifford in the east.

Beside her sister, Mrs. Crew, three brothers, Walter, Addison and Emerson Ball survive Mrs. Kinkead. She also leaves four children, Mrs. Clara Mae Martin of Independence, Mrs. Lenora Spencer of Davenport, Mrs. Alice Briggs of Omaha, Neb., and Clifford Fawcett of Buffalo, N.Y.

Mrs. Kinkead spent her early life in this community, and after her marriage to Joseph Fawcett the family resided in this and the Centerdale neighborhoods, Mr. Fawcett being engaged in business at Centerdale for many years. Later the home was at West Liberty where Mr. Fawcett is buried. She was married to William Kinkead at Whittier and that has since been her home; her husband died a few years ago.

Atlantic Allen Kinkaid, one of six children born to John and Cynthia Ball had her natal day Jan. 4, 1856. Her death occurred Jan. 14, 1931, she having passed her 75th year by 10 days.

Four of her immediate family are left to mourn her death. The oldest brother is dead, and the living are, Walter of Moxee City, Washington; Addison of Orland, Calif.; Emmerson of Entiat, Wash.; and Mrs. Clara Crew of West Branch.

The family home of the Balls was for many years Centerdale, Ia., and it was here that Atlantic was born and grew to womanhood. On Sept. 5, 1877, she was united in marriage to Joseph S. Fawcett, and of five children born, four are living, the oldest son dying in infancy.

The children are Mrs. Ed Spenser of Davenport, Ia.; Clara Mae Martin of Independence, Ia.; C. P. Fawcett of Buffalo, N.Y.; and Mrs. Bruce Briggs of Omaha, Neb.

The father of the family died on Nov. 21, 1907. In 1918 deceased became the wife of Alexander Kindaid, who died 6 years ago.

Mrs. Kinkaid has made her home both in Iowa, Wyoming and California and at her death lived in Whittier of this state. Years ago she united in the membership of the Methodist Episcopal church at West Liberty, Iowa.

She was known for her friendly and happy spirit, and because of this she made many friends. Her education was good, and she enjoyed the worth while things of life. It was ordered for her that she bear many burdens and endure many trials, but she carried her load as a brave woman.

To her loved ones, to those who will miss the passing of this good woman, we extend our deepest sympathy.

Funeral services were held from the home of the sister, Mrs. Clara Crew, at West Branch. The burial was made at the West Liberty cemetery. The Rev. H. D. Green, pastor of the M. E. church at West Branch, had charge of the services.

Note: Her name is spelled both Kinkead and Kinkaid.
