26 March 1931 - West Branch Times

Death is always sad, and the passing of Roy Williams is unusually so. He was a young man only 27 years old, and he leaves behind him to mourn for him, and to care for his children his young wife, who with Margery 7, Betty 3 and Marvin 6 months old, constitute a burden for heavier shoulders than hers.

Roy was born at Cedar Valley, June 15, 1903. He was a son of G. W. and Fannie Williams, also of Cedar Valley at present.

He was married to Ethel Pearce, Sept. 26, 1923. Another child died at the early age of 5 months.

Roy leaves three sisters and a brother, beside the father. The mother died in 1917. The sisters are Mrs. Lillian Miller of Tipton, Mrs. Martha Kuringer of Muscatine, Mrs. Anna Thompson of Stanwood. The brother is Earl Williams of Cedar Valley.

Mr. Williams has been in failing health since last September, and as a direct result of pneumonia he passed away from this life last Thursday, March 19th, at 3:00 o'clock.

The sympathy of us all is extended to the wife, children and relatives.

Burial services were held in the Buchanan church on Saturday afternoon at 2:30. The Rev. H. D. Green of the M.E. church of West Branch was in charge of the services.
