Died At his home in this City Friday morning December 9th, after a lingering illness of a dropsical nature, William John aged 70 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Deceased was born in Columbiana county Ohio, was married to Ann Jackson in 1814 and moved to Iowa in 1845, first settling in Van Buren county where they remained until 1853 when they moved to Cedar county where with the exception of three years they were in Keokuk county, they have since resided, having lived in West Branch 8 years. He leaves a widow and four children, only two of whom were present at the funeral of their father. He was a birth-right member of the Society of Friends the funeral being held in the Conservative Friends meeting house at 10 o'clock Sabbath morning, and his body laid to rest in the cemetery at Springdale.
