Daughter of William and Eliza Bolon, was born in Lowden county, Virginia in 1827 and died at her home in Springdale, January 1, 1912, being at the time of her death 84 years, 7 months and 15 days of age. She moved with her parents to Ohio in 1831 when but four years old, where she grew to womanhood. She became a member of the Christian church when but sixteen years of age, to which faith she faithfully kept till death.

She was united in marriage to Johnathan Preston, Feb. 1, 1851. They came to Iowa in 1857 and has lived here ever since. There were born to them six children, three of whom are still living to mourn her loss, Maggie Preston, Geo. Preston and Anna Eliza Bailey all of Springdale, Iowa. Her husband and three sons, William, Edgar and Amos having died several years previously. She was one of a family of eleven children, all of whom are dead but one brother, Johnathan, who is now living in Salem, Ohio.

She was a kind and loving mother and a good wife and will be greatly missed by her many friends.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. H. Mitchell of the West Branch Methodist church at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning from the Springdale Methodist church. Interment in the Springdale cemetery.
