10 August 1911 - West Branch Times

Etta Blanche Forsythe was born in Rockbridge county, Va., Nov. 23, 1870, and died at her home near West Branch, Iowa, Aug. 6, 1911, aged 40 years, 8 months and 14 days.

On the 27th of March, 1890, she was married to Mr. George Brown, and with the exception of four years spent in Missouri and one year in Enid, Okla., they have lived in the vicinity of West Branch.

One daughter, Grace, was born to them. The husband and daughter, together with four sisters and three brothers survive her.

In early life she united with the Presbyterian church at her home in Virginia, and during her residence in West Branch has been a faithful member of the Presbyterian church here. The faith which had been cherished and cultivated during active life brought her comfort during the days of suffering, and brought a note of peace and victory into the closing hours of her life.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and a friend who will be greatly missed in the community.

The funeral services were held at the home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock and were in charge of Rev. W. A. Montgomery, pastor of the Presbyterian church. The remains were placed in the family lot in the West Branch cemetery.

A large concourse of relatives and friends were in attendance at the last rites to offer sympathy to the bereaved husband and daughter.
