23 February 1911 - West Branch Times

This community was inexpressibly shocked on Saturday evening when it became known that W. B. Browning had received a telegram announcing the sudden death of Lewis Barnes who had gone to Biloxi to spend the winter in hope of regaining his health, which had been very poor for some years. He had written his daughter, Mrs. W B. Browning that he was feeling well and had gained in weight, consequently the news of his death came as a surprise to his friends here. The remains were shipped here in charge of Dr. Leech who was in Biloxi at the time, arriving at 6 o'clock last evening. The funeral is held today and will be buried beside his wife, who preceeded him about five years ago. He leaves two daughters to mourn his loss; they are Mrs. Harvey DeForest and Mrs. W. B. Browning.
