Mrs. Christine Augusti Christensen, nee Nielsen, was born August 1, 1832, at Jorsley Sogn, Denmark. She died in her home at West Branch, Ia., Wednesday morning, April 30, 1930, at the age of 77 years and 9 months. She was baptized, given religious instruction, and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Denmark.

She was united in marriage with Jens Andreas Christensen in 1881. They came to this country the following year. They lived in Minnesota the first 9 years; the remainder of the time, 39 years, they lived in and near West Branch.

To their union 8 children were born, six daughters and two sons: Mrs. Sena Sorensen, Mrs. Nora Christensen, Martin Christensen, all of West Branch; Mrs. Josephine Christiansen of Barnum, Minn, Mrs. Emma Christensen of Austin, Minn., Mrs. Helga Clausen of Detroit, Mich., and Albert Christensen of Franklin, Minn. Mrs. Karen Mary Jensen preceded her in death at Denver, Colo. Thirty-one grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren survive her also.

Mrs. Christensen had been in ill health for a number of years. She bore her illness with patience, trusting in the Lord for daily strength. She was among those who first helped to build the Danish Lutheran church at West Branch. She expressed that it was her desire to place the hope of her salvation in Christ's atonement on the cross. Those who trust in the Lord shall not trust in vain.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Aaron Christiansen. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Johnson sang a duet, and the Rev. Christensen of Des Moines sang a solo. Interment was made in the cemetery at West Branch.
