Funeral services for Mrs. Ray (Marilyn Abigail) Jewell, 58, were held at First Presbyterian church, Mechanicsville, Oct. 3 with the Revs. David and Jaymee Glenn-Burns officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were James Cook, John Sauer, John Kuehnle, Kenneth Montz, John C. Butler, David Ferguson and Robert Davidson. Mrs. Mary Littig was organist.

Mrs. Jewell died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Sept. 30.

The daughter of Jonathan Paul and Frances Angell Thomas, she was born in Mechanicsville March 3, 1928. She graduated from the Mechanicsville Consolidated school in 1945. She attended the University of Iowa for a year.

She was married to Ray P. Jewell at the First Presbyterian church, Mechanicsville, Jan. 22, 1949. She worked as a clerk-typist in Cedar Rapids and was a bookkeeper for Montz Implement, Mechanicsville for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Evangeline chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Mechanicsville.

She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, Thomas Ray and James Paul, all of Mechanicsville; a sister, Dorothy Auld, Albert Lea, Minn., 2 grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeffrey; 3 nephews and a great-niece.
