12 May 1903 - The Tipton Advertiser

Tuesday the funeral of W. H. Lee was held at the M. E. church, with which organization he has been prominently identified since early manhood. The services were conducted by Elder Harvey, for years a personal friend of the deceased, assisted by Rev. J. Nelson, of the Baptist church and Elder A. J. Ellis, of the Christian church. It is a somewhat striking coincidence that just five years before to a day his wife was carried to her last resting place in the same cemetery.

Mr. Lee was born in Tipton, Iowa, May 22, 1852, and died May 2, 1903, at the age of 50 years, 11 months and 10 days. He was the first of a family of nine children to go, and besides four sisters and four brothers, leaves an aged mother and three children to sorrow at his departure. He came to Lane county in the summer of '79 and has resided here continuously since.

A large concourse of friends and old neighbors assembled to pay a last tribute to the dead, and followed with measured tread to the cemetery east of town, where the mortal remains of the honored citizen, esteemed friend and kind father were carried to their long home.
