27 September 1906 - The Clarence Sun

Elizabeth Glass was born at Newark, Trenton county, New Jersey, January 5, 1831, and died at the home of her son, Simmons L. McLeod, September 22, 1906, at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 17 days.

When six years of age she moved with her parents to Galena, Delaware county, Ohio. In 1853 she moved to Jones county, Iowa, and from there to Clarence on Feb. 22, 1900. On March 10, 1856, she was married to John McLeod. One child, Simmons L., was born of this union, who still survives the parents. The husband and father departed this life Jan. 13, 1900.

Out of a family with three brothers and five sisters, one brother alone survives the deceased.

She was converted in early life and joined the Presbyterian church. During the month of March, 1873, she united with the Wesleyan Methodist church, of which she remained a faithful member until death called her to join the church triumphant above.

She bore a cheerful countenance, was patient and uncomplaining in suffering, ever ready to administer to the wants of those about her, yet fearing that she would become a care to others. Let those whom she left behind her strive to emulate her good works in following her as she followed Christ, and blessed by her memory.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home, conducted by the Rev. W. R. Emerson, assisted by the Rev. D. M. Ogilvie. Interment was made in the Dayton Valley cemetery by the side of her husband to wait the call of the resurrection morn.
