24 May 1906 - The Clarence Sun

Mrs. Catherine Blazer, one of the earliest settlers in Cedar county, south east of Clarence, passed away last Saturday at an advanced age. Her death occurred at Ida Grove where she made her home in late years with Mrs. John Hostler, a daughter. The remains were brought back for interment in the family burying grounds at Inland. Mrs. Blazer's death recalls to the mind of W. H. Blair that she and her husband were among those who suffered from the cyclone of June 3, 1860, known as the Camanche cyclone. They were in their farm house when the storm struck it, their first realization of its presence being to find themselves tumbling with the house. The storm left them about 100 feet from the foundation landed on all that was left of the house, a portion of a ceiling. Mr. Blazer received injuries which afterward assisted in causing his death.
