15 June 1905 - The Clarence Sun

The expected occurred last Saturday when Mrs. Henry Schwaegermann died at her home in Massillon township, east of Clarence, aged 48 years, 3 months and 5 days, of cancer of the stomach. Mrs. Schwaegermann suffered much in the last few months of her life. All that was possible was done to bring her relief but to no avail and death must have been welcomed by her. It left her in a very emancipated condition.

Sophie Otte was born in Nieder Ohe, Proviez Hannover, Germany, on March 5th, 1857, and came to America with her parents in 1869, settling first at Addison, Ill. In the fall of that year they came to Cedar county. In the spring of 1884 deceased was married to Henry Schwaegermann who now with two daughters survive to mourn the loss of wife and mother.

The very largely attended funeral occurred on Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church, Lowden, the services being conducted by Rev. Brammer. Interment followed in the Lutheran cemetery.

Among relatives from a distance present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Breuer of Dysart, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Menke of Chicago, Mrs. Wm. Hankemeyer of Austin, Ill., and Mr. Vogt of Evanston, Ill.
