FOUND DEAD - John Gray, an old man apparently about 75 or 80 years of age, was found dead last Thursday in the house in which he lived alone on his farm three miles south of Lowden; the regular farm house being occupied by George Barlean and family, who have rented the farm, says a Lowden correspondent. Mr. Gray had been last seen by the renters on Monday. Mr. Barlean looked in at the window and seeing the everyday clothes of the deceased, he thought he had his best clothes on and was away from home, as he had been before. O. G. Musing, who as highway supervisor of the district called to collect the cash portion of the road tax, on Thursday, found Mr. Gray's screen door hooked on the inside, and getting no answer when he knocked, spoke about the circumstance to Mr. Barlean, who with another neighbor peered in at the window and thought they saw one of Mr. Gray's feet. Coming to town they informed some of the people here and word was sent to Blair Wolf of Tipton, a son-in-law of the old gentleman, who directed that the house be opened and charge taken of the corpse. F. W. Rix, undertaker, D. D. McGillivray, M. W. Burton and Jerome Clements went out and found that Mr. Gray was dead. In a trunk was found $463.71 in cash. The next day Mr. Wolf took the remains home with him for interment. To all appearances Mr. Gray died Monday evening, October 28, while getting ready to go to bed. He had been subject to fainting spells for some time.
