25 August 1932 - The Tipton Advertiser

The community was grieved this week when it became known that Mrs. Charles Titman, highly esteemed woman of the Tipton vicinity, had suddenly passed away about noon Wednesday.

Mrs. Titman died from the effect of a dose of sodium fleuride taken about six o'clock that morning mistaken for epsom salts. When the mistake was discovered Dr. Hoffman was hastily summoned and every effort was made to save her life, but to no avail.

Mrs. Titman is survived by her husband, children, several other relatives and a host of friends.

No funeral arrangement have yet been announced pending word from relatives residing at a distance.

Mary Anna Parker, one of a family of six children of whom Mr. and Mrs. Clemuel Parker were the parents was born near Millville, Penn. Oct. 29, 1878. She grew to womanhood in the east and was united in marriage to Charles Titman July 14, 1900. In 1911 they came to Iowa and have made their home in the vicinity of Tipton since that time.

Mr. and Mrs. Titman were the parents of three children, one of whom, Beatrice Belle died in infancy. Mrs. Titman died last Wednesday, August 24. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Dale Reeve of Tipton and Mrs. Clarence Crock of Olin, Iowa, a sister, Mrs. Florence (?) of Rex, Oregon, two brothers, Robert Parker of Seranbon, Penn. and Harry Parker of Millville, Penn., ten grandchildren. Many other relatives and a host of friends are bereft by her untimely departure.

Mrs. Titman was a member of the Friends Church and united with the Tipton Methodist Episcopal church during the pastorate of Rev. C. K. (?), also a member of Virginia Grove society of Kings Daughters. She served a branch of this organization, the Service Circle, as its president. In this as in everything else she undertook she was conscientious and punctual, always anxious to give her best. She will be remembered in the home circle because of her devotion to her loved ones and by her friends because of her worth and excellent character.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. E. Van Buren of Tipton, at the home on the Jennings farm south of Tipton, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Interment was made in the Red Oak Grove cemetery.
