Charles Chapman, age 55 years, of Mechanicsville vicinity, was found hanging in the barn on his farm southeast of town Saturday by a neighbor. Coroner A. M. McCormick of Tipton was notified and after investigation gave as his opinion that Chapman had been dead about two and a half days.

Chapman, who was a bachelor and lived alone on the farm had not been seen since 7 o'clock last Wednesday evening. It is known that he had been despondent and this is considered the reason for his act.

Funeral services were held from the M.E. church in Stanwood Monday afternoon and interment was in the Sheldon cemetery, southeast of Tipton, Iowa.
