Harvey Fleagle, well known resident of Tipton community in recent years, passed away Saturday morning, May 11th, at the state hospital in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, where he had been under treatment for the past year. The body was brought home, funeral services being held Monday afternoon from the home, Rev. W. E. Van Buren officiating. Interment was made in Masonic cemetery, near Tipton.

Harvey Fleagle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Uriah Fleagle, was born near Lowden, Cedar county, Iowa, June 17th, 1863. He passed from this life at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, May 11th, 1929, at the age of 65 years, 10 months, 24 days.

There were thirteen children in the Fleagle family, of whom four are still living: Mrs. Laura Huttle, Fairfield; Mrs. Clara Hagerbaumer, Quincy, Ill., Mrs. Della Horwitz, Des Moines, Ia., and Harry Fleagle, Cedar Rapids.

Harvey was united in marriage to Mary E. Carlton of New Orleans, July 21, 1903. The came to Tipton immediately after their marriage and have since resided in this vicinity.

One son was born to them, who died in infancy. They adopted a little girl, Laura, as their daughter and as such have loved and cared for her. Besides the sisters and brother mentioned Mrs. Fleagle and Laura are the only near surviving relatives.

Mr. Fleagle served as a soldier in the First Illinois Infty. during the Spanish-American War in Cuba.

He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Lowden, and afterward at Tipton, and for many years was very active as such. He was particularly interested in the cause of prohibition and contributed in every way possible to its success. He had many admirable qualities, was an excellent citizen, a kind and loving husband and father.
