Funeral rites for Pfc. William Scott Dorris, 23, stationed with the U.S. Army in Fort Polk, La. will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 20 at the Runge Mortuary in Davenport. Burial with full military honors will be in the National cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.

The former Bennett man was killed in an auto accident in Galveston, Texas June 14.

Pfc. Dorris was born Nov. 24, 1961 at Ottumwa. He was graduated from Bennett high school in 1981 and served in the army at Germany and Alaska before going to Fort Polk.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon (Sherry) Badtram, Bennett, his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dorris, Davenport, a brother, Todd, Davenport, a stepsister, Mrs. Barbara Schulz, Beaver Dam, Wisc., 3 stepbrothers, Carl Badtram, Bennett, Garry Bullock and Steve Bullock, Davenport, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Leedom, Moline, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Dorris, Mill Spring, Mo. and Mrs. Ethel Service, Burbank, Calif.
