12 October 1865 - The Tipton Advertiser

Mrs. Elizabeth Dimmitt, wife of Rev. J. G. Dimmitt, of this place, departed this life on the 4th instant, at 2 o'clock in the morning.

Mrs. D. was a high-toned Christian lady, loved and admired by all who knew her. Her unobtrusive virtues shed a halo around her during life, and now that she has passed away they will lend a sweet perfume to embalm her memory.

In view of her character and in condolence with the bereaved family, the Faculty of Cornell College has passed the following resolutions:
WHEREAS, It has pleased Almighty God to take to himself our beloved sister, ELIZABETH DIMMITT, and,
WHEREAS, We, the Faculty of Cornell College, by years of intimate acquaintance, have learned to love her for her many virtues, and to admire her true Christian spirit; therefore,
Resolved, 1. That we emulate her noble example in meekly bowing to the will of him who doeth all things well.
Resolved, 2. That we tender to our beloved Pastor our heartfelt sympathy, for the loss of a loving and faithful companion and of a true help-meet in all the responsibilities of the family and the church, and we commend him most earnestly to the tender mercies of a kind Heavenly Father.
Resolved, 3. That we tender to the surviving children our deep condolence for the loss of a kind and affectionate mother; and we trust that her precepts nd example may be instrumental in drawing them upward to herself.
