5 November 1863 - The Tipton Advertiser
In Red Oak township, Tuesday, Oct. 20th, 1863, of Congestion of the Lungs, MATILDA, wife of Henry B. Marks; aged about 25 years.
The deceased was a native of Connecticut, and in the days of her youth made a profession of religion and connected herself with the Protestant Episcopal Church. Her last hours were peaceful. She gave directions about her little children, and requested her attendants to sing to her "Jesus sought me when a stranger," &c, and she repeated the verse quite audibly, and passed away as quietly as going to sleep. She leaves a husband and three little children to mourn their loss. P.
