20 January 1898 - The Tipton Advertiser

Margaret L. Chambers was born November 24, 1826, in Rockingham, Virginia. In 1839 she moved with her parents to Ohio, and in 1850 moved from there to Tipton, Iowa, where she lived until March, 1897, when she went with her daughter, Mary Waddell and family, to Macon City, Missouri, where she died, January 3, 1898, after a lingering illness.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Heald at the M.E. church January 5, and interment was made in the Wright cemetery, east of town.

She was married to Mr. John Bruner in March 1862. There were born to them three children, the youngest of whom with the husband had preceded her to the heavenly home. A son, James Bruner, lives in Bennett, and a daughter, Mrs. Alex Waddell, living in Macon City, Missouri, are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. She was a true Christian and an earnest worker in the church as long as she was able, but for several years her health would not permit her to do the work she would like to have done for the Master whom she loved and served and the light of whose love made her bear her suffering so patiently and uncomplainingly. In her favorite hymn were the words, "I am only waiting her to hear the summons, child, come home."

At the beginning of the bright New Year she heard the summons and gladly answered after a journey of seventy two years, to begin the New Year which will never end, in the beautiful mansions on high.
