Mrs. Katie Thiering, of Bennett community, Cedar county, passed away the first of this week. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home in Tipton with interment in Durant cemetery.

She was born near Sunbury, Ia., Dec. 8, 1870, and spent all her life in the Tipton and Bennett communities. March 4, 1891, she was united in marriage with Henry Thiering.

Surviving are one son, Harry Thiering, of Tipton community, two daughters, Mrs. Amanda Rekemeyer, of Davenport and Mrs. Meta Boettcher, also 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Edward Wieck of Sunbury, and Charles Wieck of Wilton Junction, also survive her.
