Dessa Pauley, daughter of Sarah J. and James P. Pauley, was born near New Boston, Ill., May 6, 1881, and passed away on May 3, 1955, at the Thurston nursing home at Tipton, Iowa, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 27 days.

She received her education in the New Boston school.

On May 11, 1898, she was united in marriage to Thomas W. Allen at Aledo, Ill. To this union were born four daughters.

She and Mr. Allen moved to the Tipton community 53 years ago, where they have made a host of friends.

Mrs. Allen was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church which she attended very regularly. She was also an active member of the Women's Guild until the last four months when ill health made her attendance impossible.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, 6 sisters, 2 brothers, and 2 daughters, Frances and Irva.

Surviving are her husband Thomas, 2 daughters, Mrs. Bessie Thomas of Atalissa and Mrs. Dorothy Techau of Stanwood, one brother Fred Pauley of Shelton, Wash., 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 6, at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Harold Kratzat officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Albert Shaffer, Wm. Sinkler, Lewis Maisack, Chas. Kreinbring, M. W. Gillam and Hermann Onken.

Music was furnished by a sextet led by Wm. Naber.

The flowers were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ehresman and Mr. and Mrs. Robert McClellan.
