Funeral services for Robert Benjamin Burgess, 58, Clarence, were held at 11 a.m., May 25 at the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, the Rev. Wayne Clark officiating. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery. Military graveside rites were conducted by members of the Clarence American Legion. Mr. Burgess died May 22 at Veterans hospital in Iowa City.

He was born April 9, 1921 at Stanwood, the son of Lucian and Blanche McCausland Burgess. He was a farm worker and a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Burgess is survived by his parents; one son, Benny of San Juan, Texas; one daughter, Barbara (Mrs. John Smith) of Topeka, Kans.; 4 grandchildren; 7 brothers, William, Monona; Richard, Salem, Ore.; Harold, Albuquerque, N.M.; Jack, Amarillo, Texas; Arthur, Madras, Ore.; Clifford, Alamagordo, N.M.; Jim, Huston, Texas; 4 sisters, Della Sawyer, Mt. Auburn; Jean Whited, Las Cruces, N.M.; Florence Brickley, Grand Junction, Colo.; and Mary Reeder of Grand Junction, Colo. He was preceded in death by one brother.
