Mrs. Francis L. Britton, of Tacoma, who passed away at 7 o'clock Thursday morning September 23, 1897, at the home of her daughter residing at Tamwater, was the daughter of Andrew P. and Mary Crawford. She was born July 25, 1826, in Michigan. Her parents moved to Indiana, thence to Iowa in 1836. She became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of 16, and lived a consistent Christian life from that day forth, retaining active membership in the church and by her daily walk proclaiming herself a christian in all that term implies. She was married December 24, 1844, in Cedar county, Iowa, to Abraham Rowe, and two sons were born to this union, i.e., John B. and Richard L. Rowe. The husband and father died July 13, 1850. On September 12, 1852, in Cedar county, Iowa, the widow was married to Thomas H. Britton.
