29 January 1920 - West Branch Times

On January 24th occurred the funeral services of Jens Christian Sorensen from the Danish Lutheran church of which organization he was a charter member. He was a very faithful member, as long as his health permitted his place in the house of God was never empty. Of late years failing health and blindness kept him at home. For years he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Lena Sorensen where he died January 22.

He was born near Frederikshavn, Jylland, Denmark Jan. 5th, 1838. There he grew to manhood and there he married his wife, Miss Ana Nielsen with whom he lived a happy married life for nearly fifty years. To them were born eight children, six sons and two daughters.

In the year 1883 he with those of his family who had not preceded him came to U.S.A. and West Branch, where he has been living ever since. Jens C. Sorensen was a good faithful worker and provided a good home for his family.

Two sons preceded him in death. Three sons: John Jensen, Centerdale; Carl Jensen, Downey and Wilmer O. Jensen, West Branch and two daughters, Mrs. Marius Jensen and Mrs. Lena Sorensen of West Branch together with twenty-five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren are left to mourn the loss of a good father.
