30 January 1890 - The Tipton Advertiser

BAGLEY - At her home in Des Moines, Jan. 3d, 1890, Mary L., youngest daughter of Rev. Wm. and Mrs. N. J. Bagley, in the twenty-second year of her age.

Deceased was born in Tipton and spent the greater part of her life here. She had been living in Colorado, but the climate instead of helping her as had been hoped, proved adverse, and last spring her mother returned with her to Des Moines by advice, after a visit to the old home in Tipton.

Through long continued sickness and suffering her character was sublimated into one of rare beauty and Christian grace. The paper at her Colorado home, Akron, says of her: "She lived so as to be missed, especially in the home she has left. She was conscious to the last and died peacefully, happy in the blessed Jesus to whom she was going. Beautiful in her burial robes, the casket almost filled with flowers, she was laid to rest in the cemetery at Des Moines, where a majestic hickory tree stands sentinel at the head of her grave and points toward the joyful resting place of her glorified spirit."
