Mechanicsville - Clarence James Andre, 83, former Mechanicsville resident, died Sunday in his home in Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the First Congregational church, Cedar Rapids. Rev. J. Richard Wagner conducted the service. Interment was in the Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville.

Pallbearers were Charles Young, Clyde Williams, Albert Zenishek, Lawrence Stabenow, Willard Maley and Allen B. Jackson.

Clarence Andre was born Jan. 21, 1877, in Lisbon, the son of Reuben and Mary Kelsey Andre. He farmed near Mechanicsville until 1942. He has lived in Cedar Rapids for the past 12 years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ruby, Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. Lucile Youngblut, Lisbon; two sons, Paul, Tempe, Ariz.; and Lloyd, Mechanicsville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
