20 September 1928 - The Tipton Conservative

Emeline Owen, the youngest of a family of seven children, was born near Lexington, Ohio, May 6, 1850, and died at Iowa City Sept. 11, 1928, aged 78 years, four months and five days.

The Owen family came to Cedar county, Iowa, in 1852. The other children of the family were Mrs. Ann Reeve, Rhoda Jane Carl, Reuben, Josiah and Henry Owen, Mrs. Samantha Quinn. All of these preceded Emeline in death. Most of her life was spent in Tipton and its vicinity. She was married to C. W. Anderson, May 27, 1873. Four children came to bless their home, three of whom died in infancy. Mr. Anderson died Dec. 4, 1878, aged 31 years, 4 months and 6 days. A daughter, Orpha, grew to womanhood, and was a solace and comfort to her mother. But their loving companionship was severed by the death of Orpha, May 19, 1899.

From childhood Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Methodist church, in which she loved to worship, and to which she gladly gave her service and support. During all her trials and bereavements her faith in God never wavered, and in Him she found strength and comfort. She was quiet and cheerful in disposition, warm hearted and friendly, a benediction to those with whom she associated.

Funeral services were held in the Tipton Methodist church last week with interment in the Sheldon cemetery.
