22 October 1901 - The Tipton Advertiser

Jacob Russell Cripliver was born Oct. 16, 1878. He graduated from the Tipton High school in the class of '96. He taught school about two years and since that time has lived on the farm at his home where he died, Oct. 18, 1901, aged 23 years and two days. His illness was of short duration, lasting only five days. He was patient and considerate during all of his illness. He was known and loved by a large circle of friends who will mourn his untimely death. His father died June 2, 1898. He leaves a mother, two brothers and two sisters.

Russel dearly loved to attend divine service; and the Sunday school at Bethel held great attractions for him and no difference how few were there he still desired to go. He always assumed his share of responsibility and was very anxious for the success of the work. He will be sadly missed at Bethel where he was so dearly loved.

The funeral service was held at the home conducted by Rev. S. Conybeare who was assisted by the choir of the Presbyterian church, which Russell usually attended on Sunday evenings.

The attendance was unusually large and many strong young men were seen weeping over his bier.

The grief of the family is very great and they have hosts of warm hearted sympathizers.
