Mary Cornwall, daughter of A. B. and Margaret Cornwall was born in Muscatine county, Iowa, Feb. 19, 1848, and died March 26, 1931, in Iowa City at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 7 days.

At the age of 3 years she with her parents moved to Cedar county, Iowa, which was her home until the last few years which have been spent with her son in Iowa City.

She was married to Samuel Holloway Jan. 2, 1870, and to this union six children were born. The husband passed away April 12, 1896, and four children, also, have preceded her in death. Lillie M. Holloway, dying at home Oct. 9, 1887; Mrs. Ruth Ella Gates of Washington, Iowa, Sept. 23, 1920; Charles B. of Oakdale, Calif., July 11, 1926; and Dorothy A. Cameron of Downey, Jan. 23, 1913.

Two sons survive her: Albert C. of Iowa City and Walter E. of Downey, together with twelve grand children and two great grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters: Mrs. Ella Pidd of Fairfield, Iowa; Mrs. Alice Adams of Onida, S. Dak.; and Mrs. H. K. Gates of Downey and one brother, John Cornwall of Maconn, Sask., Canada, besides other relatives and many friends.

Mary Cornwall united with the Baptist church at Downey in Sept. 1865, being among the first of the young converts. She was a charter member of the church and has served her master faithfully throughout the years.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist church, Downey, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services were in charge of the Rev. H. D. Green of West Branch, assisted by Rev. D. H. Hovery, a friend of the family. Interment was made in the Downey cemetery.
