2 April 1931 - West Branch Times

After an illness extending over several months, E. L. Yoder passed away at his home on East Main street at seven o'clock Sunday morning. Mr. Yoder had been some better for a few weeks but suffered a relapse early last week, and died within a few days.

Mr. Yoder was a resident of this community about twenty-five years, coming here from Sharon to engage in the grocery business. Later he travelled, and until his last illness forbade, he was on the road. He was prominent in church work and will be missed in many circles.

Mr. Yoder was one of thirteen children, all of whom grew to maturity. A curious co-incidence was the fact that two brothers, Ezra and Joseph, were buried at the same time, the funerals widely separated geographically. Services for E. L. Yoder were held at 2:30 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, from the Methodist church of West Branch. At the same time the funeral of his brother Joseph, who died at Los Angeles, Calif., was held at the home of another brother, Simon, at Washington, Kansas. Joseph was 78 and Ezra was 70 years of age. Of seven brothers only Simon and Daniel survive.

Mr. Yoder leaves to mourn, his wife and two sons, Ledger of Iowa City and Otho of West Branch, and one grandchild, Mildred Helen Yoder.
