David W. Miller, well known Tipton man during the past few years, died near Independence after a brief illness of pneumonia.

Mr. Miller was born in Buchanan county, Ia., Nov. 17, 1853, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Miller. For many years he operated a farm east of Independence, and later engaged in business at Independence. With his family he then moved to Tipton and engaged in business. Four months ago he came to make his home with his brother. He was married in 1880 to Beatta Campbell at Independence. He has two brothers, K. B. and Ephraim, at Independence, and one sister, Mrs. Marie Douglas, of Cedar Rapids.

His son, Lee, passed away at Cedar Rapids, about a year ago.

'Dad' as he was familiarly known to the host of friends in Tipton, was highly esteemed and respected by all, and made many friends through his genial disposition.

Funeral services were held at the Swan & Leytze funeral chapel at Independence, Tuesday. The Masonic lodge acted as escort to the grave.
