B. W. Rowlen, 61, a Spanish-American war veteran, died shortly after 9 o'clock Friday night at his home on Spencer street in West Liberty following an attack of acute indigestion.

He was born June 23, 1870, in Barnesville, Ohio. When six years old he came with his parents to West Branch where he passed the early part of his life. He has resided in West Liberty more than 20 years. He was a railway postal clerk of many years and would have been retired on a mail clerk's pension, a year from next March. His run was from Burlington to Owatonna, Minn.

Mr. Rowlen was prominently identified with community affairs. He was a charter member of the Rotary Club and was president of the West Liberty golf club last year. He was a Shriner, a member of the O.E.S., the K. P. lodge and of the Methodist church. He enlisted in the regular army, and served four years in the Spanish-American war.

He was married to Mrs. Ida C. Woods of West Liberty who passed away four years ago. On April 17, 1928, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Eva Wilkins, also of West Liberty.

Surviving are his widow, his mother, Mrs. Martha Rowlen, a stepson, Cecil Wilkins, a sister, Mrs. E. C. Stokes and a brother, Louis Rowlen, all of West Liberty.

Military funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment was in Oak Ridge cemetery.
