11 January 1920 - The West Branch Times

Margaret J. Carbaugh was born March 16, 1858, at New Harmony, Indiana, and passed away November 2, 1920, after a short illness of an acute attack of gall stones terminated by sudden heart failure at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Delbert Fairall of West Branch, Iowa, aged sixty two years, seven months and fourteen days.

She became a member of the Baptist church early in life and the last three years was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Friends church of West Branch.

Was married to Charles W. Ross, January 1, 1880. To this union were born six daughters, Maud, who died in infancy; Mrs. H. D. Robertson of West Branch, Iowa; Mrs. F. A. Lamborn, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. C. W. Lathrop, Red Oak, Iowa; Mrs. Harry Snyder, Chicago, Ill.; and Mrs. Delbert Fairall of West Branch, Iowa.

Besides these daughters she leaves a sister, three brothers, four grandsons, two granddaughters and many friends to mourn her loss.

Her father, mother, one brother and infant daughter preceded her in death.

The deceased has spent the last twenty-seven years of her life in this community, having moved here from Iowa City, after a nine years residence there.

She has always been a good, loving, self-sacrificing mother and a kind neighbor, always ready to help those in trouble and sorrow, who will be greatly missed by those who are left to grieve for her.

Private funeral services were held from the home of Mrs. Delbert Fairall, Nov. 4, 1920, and she was laid to rest in the West Branch cemetery.
