20 May 1943 - The Clarence Sun

Mary K. Dieninger was born in Germany September 13, 1855. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Lowden.

On May 1, 1890, she was united to W. H. Rummell in marriage and came to Clarence to make their home.

Having no children of her own she reared to womanhood Elizabeth Rossman, who later became the wife of Stephen Crittenden. She also cared for Max Crittenden for three years.

About eight years ago she suffered a paralytic stroke and was cared for in her home until she was taken to the home of her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. John Clemmens, who reside in Red Oak township. Mr. and Mrs. Clemmens tenderly cared for her during these four years.

About a month ago Mrs. Rummell's health began to fail rapidly. The end came on the evening of May 12, 1943.

During her life she was a faithful member of the Methodist church. Being of a kind disposition, she had many friends.

She is survived by the following named nieces and nephews: Mr. and Mrs. John Clemmens of Red Oak township, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schoff of Lowden, Mr. and Mrs. George Shriver of Clarence, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Clemmens of Clarence, Fred Clemmens of West Branch, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clemmens of Lowden, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hopkins of Elgin, Ill. and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kinney of Lowden.

The funeral was held on Friday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. A. B. Chamberlin in charge. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery.
