Herman J. Martin, aged 69 years, died suddenly at his farm home adjoining Tipton last Wednesday night. He was born in Cedar county on March 24, 1875, and lived a number of years on a farm northwest of Clarence which he still owned. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife and two sons, Arnold H., with the armed forces, and Elmer H., at home.

The funeral was held on Sunday at Tipton and was conducted by Rev. Orville Shroer. Burial followed in St. John's cemetery east of Clarence.

Clarence people who knew Herman J. Martin well will join all others in extending sympathy to the wife and sons in their great loss.
