27 July 1944 - The Clarence Sun

Ronald Eugene Ruchman, seven months and twenty-five days old, died Thursday evening after a short illness. He was born November 25, 1943, and although always in frail health, a turn for the worse came on Saturday following a cold.

He was the son of Apprentice Seaman and Mrs. Charles Ruckman. His father, stationed on San Pedro Island, off the coast of California, was unable to reach home. A telegram from the Navy Department expressed regret that he was not able to be here but promised a leave, possibly in October.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the William Stanlake home with Dwight Krumboltz of Cedar Rapids officiating. Interment followed in the Clarence cemetery.

Besides his parents, Ronald is survived by a brother, Billy; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ruckman of Shelby, Ohio; his great-grandfather, Wm. Stanlake; and great-aunt, Miss Carrie Stanlake; besides many other more distant relatives.

Mrs. Frank Ruckman, and Billy and Betty Reau, of Shelby, Ohio, came to attend the funeral of Ronald Eugene Ruckman. Others from a distance who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stanlake of Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Charles DeWulf, of Lowden, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stoecker of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Stanlake and Arlene, Silvis, Ill., Mrs. Harold Kruger, Darlene and Shirley, Chatsworth, Ill., Charles Stanlake, Davenport, and W. J. Stanlake, Lost Nation.
